After getting more info from MITI, the secretariat, and I had also contacted AELB, one of the Authority body. I am not worried about STA 2010. But I had seriously re-consider the services provided by our current forwarding agent. I started to look for more opinion from other forwarding agent...

Strategic Trade Act 2010 (STA2010)
Attended the briefing in MITI regarding STA2010 this mornig. MITI is the STA secretariat and custom is the enforcement body.
noted few points:
1. Manufacturer to self-determine if their products falls under STA or not, with reference to the guide provided by MITI.
2. Custom can use the tariff code as guide but not the definate criteria to determine if it is STA item.
3. Custom cannot hold shipment based on the tariff code.
but I am still feel uneasy.
I raise the question to the MITI secretariat: if there is dispute, we self-determine that our products is not STA but Custom said it is STA? The secretariat say that we can refer the case to them and they will study the situation.
Another question and I didn't think of at that time: even we can refer the case to the secretariat, but the shipment is already in the port, detention, storage, special service request, lolo charges, etc etc will be incurred?
To save the problem, we may apply the export permit, register to Dagang Net and submit application to MITI, but all this are cost involve, using Dagang net is not free and we have thousands of products and spare parts, the management is not agree to that, and also falls back to the main issue, how to justify that our product is not STA ? who is the authority to tell us that our product is or is not STA? The secretariat has no definate answer. And back to the question that we have to deternime ourself.
not to forget, for unlisted item, or dual use item (that may be can be use by the terrorist to make mass destructive weapons). if found guilty, imprison 10 years or panalty 10 Million. corporate body 20 million.

ISO: Itu Susahkan Orang? or Itu Senangkan Orang?
Our company targeted to get ISO certification within 3 months. Is this mission impossible? From the implementation on 15 March, to get certification in June?
The sucess of implementation needs full team work. full co-operation.
Some Say: Why need ISO? Itu susahkan orang?
I say, it may be need a lots of paper work during the setting up stage, but once the system is done, itu senangkan orang.
Susah or Senang? It is just our mind set.

4 days work
We had been working 5 and half days a week for many years. We were trying to persuade our boss to change to 5 days week. However we were never success.
Latest shocking news: Started this week, the company will implement 4 days week until end of March. For those who still have enough annual leave, those “not working” day will be deducted from annual leave. For those do not have enough annual leave, will be treated as unpaid leave.
We never expect to have a 4 days week in this circumstance.
Since the economic crisis started, we did not feel much on the impact because company’ sale was excellent for the last half financial year. However at the beginning of 2009, the situation is not so encouraging. Orders drop dramatically.
There is pro and con in this matter. How to think positively? Can we be optimistic? Shall we worry about this situation? What can we do in this economic situation? We are just “ants” and “locusts” in this global economic market.
Comes to the second thought, what can we do over the three rest days? Laze around? Or should we have some short trip locally? Should we keep the cash or should we spend to boost up the economic? Hm…..any one has good suggestion?

Satisfaction
Came to the month end closing, we had achieved another sales target. We were performed well for the past 6 months. Hahaha... so happy. Just a short note to record my happiness, also to share my happiness with freinds.
Hm... Tomorrow is another month, got to set another target to hit. Achievement lead to satisfaction. Satisfaction lead to self confident, self confidents lead to another achievement. lol... The achievement was not done only by me, but by our team, from every one in the company. Yes, as a team, we can do it.
Have five days Holidays started tomorrow. Selamat Hari Raya to all Malaysians.
